Jacksonville Creative Arts Centers

Murray Hill Art Center 4327 Kerle Street, at 384-8039
Adults and children alike receive one on one instruction in the arts; programs offered are all geared to the individuals' level. Classes include hand built methods of clay, pottery on the wheel, drawing and painting in pencils, charcoal, watercolors, and oils.
Younger artists, 8-18 years of age, are also encouraged to work in the art studio atmosphere. Clay, painting, drawing, arts and crafts and special projects such as t-shirt painting and seasonal decorating are all part of the class structure designed to introduce fine arts ideas and techniques.
New classes are included from time to time as interests grow among students such as silk flower designs and 4-H club projects in art.
Young artists are welcomed every afternoon from 1:00-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The adult schedule is Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Teen Day is every Thursday from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. This is a special time for teenagers to be together and learn more advanced techniques and media.

In Summer Art Camp, emphasis is placed on students interested in art during intense two-week sessions. The first session is for 8-10 year olds, the second for 11-12 year olds, and the third session is for 13-17 year olds.
